Helaina Cullen is a natural both on stage and in front of the camera. She has been comfortable performing since the age of 2, booking her first modeling job at 3 for Sears Portrait Studio. Helaina took her first musical theater class at 5 and a year later, she graced the stage as a fish in The Little Mermaid. At 6, she made her first appearance on a television production set, filming a flashback scene for the successful web series The Unwritten Rules Season 3. Helaina knew she wanted to pursue acting after filming her first commercial at the age of 9. Since then, she has pursued television, film, and stage roles, starring in numerous entertainment endeavors and digital media projects.
One of her favorite roles she was honored to play was the Fairy Godmother in Descendants, a role that came naturally to her due to her warm spark, kind-hearted nature, exceptional talent, and ambition. Casting was impressed with her during the audition process because she showed she really wanted the part. Although Fairy Godmother doesn't dance during the musical, casting said, "During the dance auditions, she danced like she was in a dancing competition!" She give her all in what she's going for. The role was fitting for her because she's warm and kind, yet is a natural born leader while making others feel important. Helaina has a talent for remembering people's names and birthdates, and she excels at making others feel special in their own right. She loves planning events, being a leader, always thinking the best of people, and enjoying their company. Helaina is often the first friend of many newcomers to the theater, as she is welcoming to kids new to the scene. Her favorite part about musical theater productions is tech week, when she gets to see the show come together. Opening night is always an exciting time for her. In her own words: "I don’t really have a way of dealing with the nerves. They just come usually a couple minutes before I go on stage, but once I'm on stage, the nerves go away. The stage brings me comfort and confidence, so I don’t have a way to get rid of the nerves. It's like the stage takes them away."

Helaina has performed live for thousands of people, whether presenting announcements, performing musical numbers, speaking to adults, or engaging individually with kids about theater. Her experience and versatility make her a skilled young actress. She dreams of being on Broadway and aspires to become a casting director one day.
In 2020, Helaina became a co-host of The Talky Talk Show, an edutainment-focused program that informs elementary students about various topics in a lighthearted way. Her big laugh, which closes each episode, is one of her unforgettable characteristics.
She has appeared on the websites of well-known brands such as Athleta and Microsoft. Helaina has been featured in music videos, Christmas short films, and has given her time to promote STEM Boxes for children in foster care.
On set, Helaina is known for her professionalism and polite nature. She has received high compliments from directors, assistants, coaches, and teachers for taking direction well. She is often praised for being easy and fun to work with, enjoying the camaraderie of the crew and cast.

Aside from entertainment, Helaina is a published author, co-authoring two children’s books with her sister and mother, available on Amazon. She is very proud of these books and hopes they will help kids focus on the good things in life. Helaina is a high school student who is also studying American Sign Language (ASL) in college. She is an excellent speller and English is one of her favorite subjects. When not on stage or on camera, Helaina is busy writing creative scripts, playing the piano, writing music, playing with her pets, and playing online games. Fun fact: Helaina is a Green Belt in karate which makes her acting and life skills diverse!
